What are SEG Lightboxes

Short answer: SEG stands for Silicone Edge Graphics — a fabric print with a thin silicone strip sewn into the border. The strip presses into a groove running around the inside of the display frame, pulling the fabric drum-tight for a smooth, frameless finish.

How the silicone edge actually works

The silicone strip acts like a gasket: press it into the frame's recessed channel and it locks in place while pulling the fabric taut in every direction. There's no hardware, no visible seam, and no exposed frame edge — just a flat plane of graphic from corner to corner. That's what gives SEG displays their "floating image" look compared to a banner stand with a visible border.

How it's different from other fabric finishes

SEG vs. zippered (pillowcase) fabric: zippered graphics, like BriteBooth's WaveLight line, slide over the frame and zip closed on the back. SEG presses directly into a channel. Both give a wrinkle-free result; SEG is more common on modular wall systems, zippered is slightly faster to swap on single-panel displays.
SEG vs. grommet or pole-pocket banners: older banner-stand fabric hangs loosely on poles or grommets, which shows sag and movement. SEG's tensioned edge eliminates that.

Why SEG pairs so well with backlighting

Even tension means even light transmission — a loose or wrinkled graphic creates visible shadows when lit from behind; a tensioned SEG surface doesn't
Dye-sublimated printing on the fabric produces saturated color that reads vividly once backlit, rather than looking washed out
